چکیده

Wastewater generated by the textile industry has been a major environmental concern for long. Production of fiber involves various steps and uses lot chemicals, dyes, water. Therefore, effluent produced from needs proper purification before discharging into water body. The current review summarizes physical chemical methods like ion exchange, coagulation-flocculation, membrane separation, distillation, oxidation, ozonation, etc., wastewater treatment. Along with this, adsorption methods, adsorbents used to purify wastewater, mechanism involved in have also discussed. biological method utilizes microbes (bacteria, fungi, algae, yeast) as whole enzymes (laccase azoreductase) secreted them treatment, which considered more feasible than methods. are better other techniques due their ability degrade diverse classes dye, less accumulation harmless sludge, cost-effective safer approach disposal effluent. While expensive generate toxic is difficult decompose.

Removal of Dyes from Textile Industry Effluent: A Review

Effluent from the textile industry contains toxic compounds. These compounds contaminate the surface water, thereby making it unfit for irrigation and drinking. Since farmers use water from the rivers for agricultural purposes and the residents of the town, use both the surface and underground water from the same area as potable water, it is quite unsafe to discharge this effluent into water bo...

Investigation on the capability of Silkworm Pupa as a Natural Adsorbent for Removal of Dyes from Textile Effluent

Recently, use of naturally-occurring low-cost and harmless material for removal of trace contaminants from colored wastewater has attracted extensive attention. In this study, silkworm pupa has been used as a basic dye adsorbent. Adsorption capacity and isotherms have been assessed. Results show that adsorption isotherms can be expressed well by Langmuir equation. The effects of parameters such...

Biological remediation of dyes in textile effluent: a review on current treatment technologies

Wastewater from the textile industry can contain a variety of polluting subst-ances including dyes. Increasingly, environmental legislation is being imposed to control the release of dyes, in particular azo-based compounds, into the enviro -nment. The ability of microorganisms to decolourise and metabolise dyes has long been known, and the use of bioremediation based technologies for treating t...

Removing Reactive Dyes from Textile Effluent Using Banana Fibre

The ability of a particular banana fibre in removing reactive dyes from textile wastewater was studied in the present work. Locally available ground seeded banana fibre of ≤ 212 μ was used as adsorbent. Initially the adsorbent was tested on standard Novacron Blue FN-R reactive dye solutions and then it was also applied to raw textile wastewater. The adsorbent was found very effective to remove ...
